Joel Weisz
    Joel Weisz is COGNÉTICA’s Director-Partner (a consulting company that acts on investment projects, risk assessment, strategic analysis and sector studies). He holds a Electrical Engineering degree from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), has a graduate degree in Manufacturing Engineering from New York University, a Master’s degree in Economic Engineering from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (PUC-MG) and an MBA from Instituto de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Administração da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (COPPEAD/UFRJ).
     
    Joel´s career highlight is his work over 20 years at FINEP, between 1978 and 2002. During this time, he was a Sector Coordinator for the Yellow-Green Fund (Planning Area) and was in charge of several departments and coordination areas: Engineering and Infrastructure, University Research Center, Technology Development, Materials, Consulting Company Support, ADTEN Mining and Metallurgy Coordination and PROENGE Coordination.
     
    In addition to working at COGNÉTICA since 2003, his work history includes activities at the Management and Strategic Studies Center (CGEE) as a Technical Advisor and Technical Secretary for Sector Funds (2002 – 2003). Before joining FINEP, he acted as a Financial and Administrative Superintendent (1976-1978) at Rio Doce Engenharia e Planejamento S.A. (RDEP); at Esso Química (Iretama S.A.) as Planning and Economic Studies Coordinator (1974-1976); at Westinghouse – Eletromar S.A., implementing and heading the Industrial Engineering Department (1972-1974); at Westinghouse Electric Corp. (USA) as Manufacturing Engineer (1971-1972); and as a Project Electrical Engineer at Companhia Brasileira de Projetos Industriais (COBRAPI), where he started his career in 1969.
     
    Besides his consulting positions at several companies, ICTs and government agencies, his activities are also noteworthy on marketing and professional development projects, focusing on technology management and innovation projects. In this context are also included seminars and courses given in collaboration with FGV, UNICAMP, ABDI, PROTEC and CGEE, as well as the books he has written: “MECANISMOS DE APOIO À INOVAÇÃO TECNOLÓGICA” 3. ed. Brasília: SENAI/DN, 2006 e “PROJETOS DE INOVAÇÃO TECNOLÓGICA: Planejamento, Formulação, Avaliação, Tomada de Decisões” 1. ed. Brasília: IEL-NC, 2009.
     
    As AXONAL’s consulting partner, Joel Weisz acts mainly in the areas of project investment, strategic analysis, identification and use of credit lines and development mechanisms for RD&I.
 

 
Henry Jun Suzuki
Partner and Director at AXONAL, Henry Suzuki acts in the construction of innovation projects and networks, with focus on the creation, protection and monetization of intellectual assets. Particularly, by training and guiding teams so that they can carry out such activities themselves.
Vera M Duch Crósta
As AXONAL’s consulting partner, Vera Crósta acts mainly on open inovation, settlement of partnerships and licensing with public institutions, technology search and evaluation, partnership negotiation, formalization and follow up, as well as questions related to the access to genetic resources.
Antonia Cardeal

As AXONAL’s consulting partner, Antonia Cardeal acts mainly on market research, product (re)positioning, marketing planning, launching and management of (new) product lines.

Elza Durham

As AXONAL’s consulting partner, Elza Durham has as main areas of activity: Intellectual Property strategic management, including patent drafting, freedom to operate studies and management of intangible assets (trademarks, patents and biodiversity assets), mainly in the chemical-pharmaceutical field.
